20. STILL A HAVEN

The pleasure resorts were still being developed in Islington. There weary Londoners could enjoy the tea gardens and music.

 

Islington was still London's dairy and its famous cheesecakes were hawked around the streets.

The air was so good that it was known as London's Hospital. It certainly had plenty of patients in the murky, nearby metropolis.
