The map shows the position of Grove House
On the 18 Greenwood map as it must have
been when Wyatt lived there.

The statue being erected in
Piccadilly, outside Apsley House,
where it stood for about forty years
Mr Wyatt's atelier, or model room.
Illustrated London News, 11th July, 1846

The statue was clearly a fashionable side show. It was built by public subscription and here are the subscribers viewing the colossal result of their efforts. The sculptor, posing in the centre, is the very picture of a romantic artist. The workshop assistant too is putting on a show. His wild swing and the artist's elaborate pose, seem far from normal workshop life. If he had hit a valuable statue like that he would have been sacked on the spot.
