The Garden as as Open Air Theatre The Geological Garden was designed to display stones, but was designed as an attractive place in its own right. It is also an open air theatre, with a monumental back wall, entrances at each end and two side wings. Where most stages have to make do with canvas scenery, we have stone; instead of a rickety window held up by wooden stays, we have fine masonry; in place of a wooden box to act as a dais, we have marble. Where could we find a more handsome theatre? |
